Leah die now. ♥
You know, I may go days, weeks, even months without necessarily thinking about Kanesaki at any given time, but then when I do, it's like a starving dog perking up at the word 'food'.
An attachment I apparently cannot shake. :|
OH WELL. IF YOU CAN'T BEAT 'EM, JOIN 'EM.
EXCUSE ME I HAVE FANGIRLING TO DO. RIDICULOUS, INDULGENT, BLATANT FANGIRLING. IRL CAPSLOCKING WITHIN MY OWN HEAD. Thank you.
~à tout à l'heure~
ETA: Important Fact -- Apparently Yagami and Kanesaki are sharing hats, now.

I just had to spam this youtube video link, because I was watching it and remembered how much I love it.
Wang Leehom covering Billy Joel's 'Piano Man'
Piano Man is one of my favorite songs, and is my favorite Billy Joel song. Wang Leehom does an epic cover.
I really want to do a music rec post. TAT
ETA: OMG I love you, flist. The comments on this entry are epic. ♥
I am twenty-eight years old. I am not old. I am YOUNG. I am not even thirty yet. I AM JUST ENTERING MAJOR ADULTHOOD. Then I sit and read newspaper articles and I feel like I should be reaching for my cane and rambling about BACK IN MY DAY and yelling at kids to get off my lawn. DO THEY EVEN KNOW WHAT A LAWN IS NOWADAYS?
Case in point:
In the newspaper (Burlington Free Press) for November 12, 2009, they had an article about Vermont colleges abolishing landline phones from dorms. They are still keeping them in admin offices and one in each hall, but apart from that and international students on a necessary basis, landline phones are gone.
Because of cellphones, of course.
( Oh god, I sound like an old person. )
Am I really that old? Or do I just hate crappy journalism?
*sob*
P.S. THERE IS ONE SONG ON THE RADIO I LIKE. Owl City - Fireflies
My parents always told me I was 'born old'. :|
Me half-raising my nephew is going to be fun! :D;;; I am suddenly reminded of the new manga with Sanada and his nephew :| :| :|
( Long, ridiculously hilarious conversation. )

In other words, after mid-December, I should have a steady-ish stream of translations coming in, unless my work tells me I have to work during winter break (like they always tell me to do). BUT I HAVE MY LAPTOP AND I WILL TRANSLATE DURING WORK IF I HAVE TO!
Yeah.
Thanks, everyone, for your ultimate patience.

As of today, inspired by all the Kpop pic-a-day comms here on lj, I have officially opened a pic-a-day community dedicated to no other than the ever gorgeous Seto Kouji ! HOORAY! Partey time & balloons all around. Drinks are on me (-:
Anyway,
I need affiliates, and perhaps another poster.
So if you want to join, watch, lurk, stalk, contribute, or whatever; click on the half-assed banner below (-:

Ryoma peed on me. \:D/ While I was changing him. He had some major distance on it. :| I HAVE NOW BEEN THROUGH MY HAZING RITUAL AND CAN TEACH CLASSES ON BABY PEE 101. I had cleaned him up and put a fresh diaper on. I went to go attach the little sticky tags on the side of the diaper, let it loose for a second by mistake, and... whoosh. NEEDED ANOTHER NEW DIAPER.
Oh, what fun.
He is at the I WILL MAKE FACES CONSTANTLY AND FLAIL MY WEE ARMS AND LEGS BECAUSE OMG I CAN TELL I HAVE ARMS AND LEGS NOW :D stage.
It is cute.
♥♥♥
( This way, this way~ )
- Mood:
okay - Music:Ikimonogakari - Blue Bird
2. Hey, Seto's hair is black!
3. I guess it is for his role in Rinne no Ame? (I've blogged about this here and here.)
4. I recognized the kanji [雨] for あめ (ame) without having to look it up! I'm so proud.
I started watching an episode of MST3k, which made me think of Shann. I sign on to AIM, since I haven't been doing that lately, and, lo! she is on. She makes me remember that Kite's birthday just happened, which means his CD is out (apparently she has the same birthday), and I go to find it.
I think it is rather awesome.
Which then leads us to this Pair-Puri thing. I have been away from fandom for ages, and the last SPOT I read was the chapter where Atobe and Hiyoshi were playing, so it's been a while.
All I have to say is... WTF. Sanada's nephew(?) looks like RENJI, which clearly means that my theory that Sanada's older brother and Renji's older sister hooked up is entirely THE TRUTH.
Me: All they have to do is arrange marriage Yukimura's little sister to Renji and it's a clusterfuck family
Shann: OH GOD THAT'S EXACTLY THEIR PLAN ISN'T IT
I am still dying inside. THANK YOU KONOMI.

Notes augmented
We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!
Product tweaks and bug kill
- In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
- If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
- The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
- If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
- If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
- Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)
New FCK fixes rich text editor!
- We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
- When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
- RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
- An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
- The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers
LiveJournal Cares
We’re pleased to introduce you to
lj_cares, a new LiveJournal community dedicated to raising awareness and funds for U.S. charitable organizations that improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Each month, we’ll spotlight a nonprofit that is making a significant global impact through medical research, public outreach, and/or humanitarian social programs. Charities will be selected in accordance with the U.S. calendar of national health observances based on a high rating (of over 60%) on Charity Navigator and global scope of impact.

In this, our inaugural month of November, we will celebrate national adoption month by offering a charitable virtual gift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that saves the lives of orphans with life-threatening diseases and places them in loving homes around the world. LiveJournal will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of charitable vgifts (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit
lj_cares and read about how they helped save Baby Kang and the Rainbow Twins from fatal illnesses, who are now thriving in nurturing families. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries gifts in the Virtual Gift shop.

We thank you, once again, for joining us. See you next week!
Not last night, but the night before, I had a serious WTF moment. I was sleeping, and heard this insane CRASHBOOMCLATTERSMASH SMASH CLATTER CLANG BOOM CRASH, and it woke me up. I sat up, wondering what the hell was going on, fast enough to see the cat bolting out of the bathroom like his ass was on fire. I put on my glasses and got up, and saw he was shaking water off his paws.
Then I looked in the bathroom and started laughing. Basically, he had peed in my tub again, and I was cleaning it out with water and disinfectant. I left the water sitting in the tub to soak. I pulled the curtain shut. He went to jump in there again, but apparently just blind-jumped straight from the floor to the tub, without climbing on the rim first to ease in. Just jumped straight in, expecting it to be empty.
It was full of water, so he freaked the hell out, ran around the tub trying to get out, slammed into all my heavy (huge economy size) shampoo bottles and bodywash bottles, flew out of the tub, and out into my bedroom.
I WISH I had a video camera.
Yesterday morning while we were out buying cat litter and frozen dinners for
She muttered, "Screw you, Lean Cuisine!" out loud, by accident.
There was a woman standing about a foot away from us, getting something out of another freezer, and she burst out laughing her ass off. Like, SERIOUSLY laughing HARD.
She stayed red for a while, but said, "Hey, at least I made somebody's day!"
We had an event in the elevator on our way home, also.
I was carrying my purse, a tote bag, a 20lb box of litter, a loaf of bread, and three grocery bags, plus my wallet with my swipecard to get into the building. She had her arms full with grocery bags and her purse. I managed to swipe the card and push the handicapped 'open' button for the first two doors, and then set something down to push the 'up' button at the elevator. It was really hard to pick stuff up once I put it down, though, so when we got IN the elevator, I kind of had to just... lean on the console and push the button... sort of with my chest >>
The following ensued:
Her: I wonder how many people have touched that button...?
Me: ... ... ...
Her: ... ... ...
Me: I wonder if anyone has ever pushed it with their wang? (joking, really)
Her: ... I was just thinking that same thing... you sick, sick puppy.
Me: *starts lol-ing*
Her: ... It's funny that I just called YOU a sick puppy when I was thinking the same thing.
*ELEVATOR ARRIVES*
Me: *still laughing, walking* Now I have to get inside so I can change this shirt, ewwwww.
I love being an adult.
Anyways, we're up, we're working, the load balancers are barely breaking a sweat right now and I need some food and a shot of whiskey. I don't even *like* whiskey!!
Thanks

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.
Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.
We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!
As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.
